Charleston real estate buyers were out in force looking at Charleston homes for sale during the 1st two weeks of January. The numbers in Mt Pleasant indicate that we have not seen these many buyers out since Sep 08 when the panic hit financial markets and the buyers became gun shy. We expected an upturn in buyers looking at homes but not this strong. We saw similar uptick in buyers on James Island, Dorchester County
and Berkeley County.
(Note: The data in the chart shows number of showings appointments
logged through Centralized Showing Service (CSS) for Mt Pleasant. We
use the data to measure the momentum in the market on a weekly basis.)
What brought out the buyers out? Is it the low interest rates (4.5% range)? The new administration? Lower housing prices? What do you think is causing the Charleston real estate buyers to come out in January?
